Verizon Communications inked a broad pact with user-generated video site Veoh Networks to bring Veoh’s clips to wireless phones, FiOS TV and Verizon’s broadband-video site.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed. However, as part of the agreement, Verizon said it will advertise on VeohTV, a free application that aggregates TV shows and other content from the Internet sites of ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox, YouTube and others.
A Veoh channel on Verizon Wireless’ V CAST on-demand service, available starting this week, will feature animation, comedy, entertainment, drama and Web-series video. Verizon Wireless also has deals with YouTube and Revver to distribute their user-generated clips.
In addition, Verizon plans to launch a Veoh channel on the VerizonSurround broadband-entertainment portal this fall. FiOS TV is slated to carry Veoh content later this year.
Veoh -- investors in which include Time Warner and Michael Eisner -- claimed that it hosts content from more than 85,000 video publishers, including Paramount Pictures, Lions Gate and PBS, as well as thousands of individual Web users.
