Bravo Nets Applause For ‘Supermodel,’ ‘Dance’

Series Finale, Debut Drive Solid Ratings For NBCU Service

Holly Kiser wasn’t the only winner Thursday night, as Bravo scored with the finale of Make Me A Supermodel and the debut of its latest competition series Step It Up & Dance.

Make Me A Supermodel finaleThe April 3 first-season series finale of Make Me A Supermodel, in which Kiser topped three male model finalists to win $100,000, a modeling contract with New York Model Management and a fashion pictorial in GQ magazine, garnered a series best 1.39 million viewers, including 899,000 adults 18 to 49, according to Nielsen Media Research data.

Those numbers marked 43% and 31% increases over the 938,000 total viewers and 687,000 of Madison Avenue’s prized watchers that tuned in the prior elimination installment March 20.

Overall, Make Me A Supermodel averaged almost 1.05 million viewers over 12 episodes and a reunion show, including eight telecasts watched by more than 1 million. The series 18-to-49 count stood at 732,000 of those viewers on average.

Bravo's Step It Up & DanceMeanwhile, last night’s 11 p.m. premiere of Step It Up & Dance, came out of the gate as the network’s strongest show ever in the time slot with 826,000 viewers and 574,000 adults 18 to 49. That represented gains of 75% and 78% over time-period averages, according to network officials.

During the Step It Up & Dance opener, 12 dancers from around the country moved into their LA loft, met host, Elizabeth Berkley, mentor and Tony-Award winning choreographer, Jerry Mitchell, and competed in their first challenge for guest judges Jaime King and Spice Girl Mel B.

The show had the dancers in front of a live audience, joined by legendary burlesque performer, Cati Jean and her dance troupe L'effleur Des Sens, and 40 Deuce's Carolina Cerisola, performing a choreographed "Apache Tango," a highly dramatic, erotic and aggressive dance associated with Parisian street culture.

Step It Up & Dance moves into its regular 10 p.m. Thursday time period April 10.
