SciFi, Virgin Not ‘Stranded’

Cary Title Debuts Jan. 23, The First Release Under Comics JV

By Multi Channel News Staff -- Multichannel News, 1/21/2008 6:22:00 PM MT

The Stranded, the first entry under the joint venture between Sci Fi Channel and Virgin Comics, will be released Jan. 23.

Featuring a pair of covers, the title, from Mike Cary (X-Men, Crossing Midnight), is an epic adventure spanning two worlds as seen through the eyes of five ordinary people, whose extraordinary abilities may ultimately spell doom or salvation for the entire universe.

Under the SciFi/Virgin Comics imprimatur, the parties aspire to develop fresh properties that encapsulate the spirit of both brands and also can take shape in the form of TV, film, digital properties and in the gaming arena. Licensing and merchandising agreements may also manifest, according to officials at the venture partners.

In The Stranded, five seemingly everyday people face a terrifying question: What if their entire lives – from childhood and family to memories – was a lie? For the stranded, each is unknowingly from another world called Standfire, and now their past is returning to try and kill them. One by one, group members are assaulted by Janus, an altered human working for a mysterious, otherworldly force. Their only hope rests with Tamree, a dark, mysterious woman sent to Earth to protect them.
