Commisso, Lee to Chair The Cable Show ’08

Cable Convention Returns to New Orleans

By Steve Donohue -- Multichannel News, 9/17/2007 3:45:00 AM

BET Networks CEO Debra Lee and Mediacom CEO Rocco Commisso will co-chair The Cable Show ’08 next May, which will return to New Orleans, convention organizers said Monday.

The National Cable & Telecommunications Association originally planned to hold the 2006 convention – then known as The National Show – in New Orleans. But after Hurricane Katrina devastated the city, NCTA moved the convention to Atlanta. It committed to bring the confab back to New Orleans in October 2006.

“We have many wonderful memories from NCTA conventions in New Orleans over the years,” Lee said in Monday’s announcement. “We plan to make The Cable Show ’08 another great event while giving back to the city and the people that have played a part in our industry’s growth.”

The convention will be held at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. As part of the convention agenda, NCTA said it plans “a slate of activities and opportunities for cable industry companies and their executives to further assist in recovery and rebuilding efforts.”
