In the largest series order in its history, MTV: Music Television has picked up five more seasons of The Real World and two more runs of The Real World/Road Rules Challenge from Bunim Murray Productions.
The Real World addition will carry the series through its 20th incarnation into 2008, making it the longest-running reality show in the history of cable television, according to the parties. The Real World/Road Rules Challenge will air through at least 2006.
Currently in its 15th season, The Real World from Philadelphia ranks first in its Tuesday 10 p.m. time slot among persons 12 to 34. Last season’s show from San Diego was the highest rated in the Real World’s history and ranked first among all cable series among the aforementioned demo. The 16th season will begin production in Austin, Texas, this quarter.
