Continuing a rollout of new services into its acquired Houston cable market, Comcast today added seven HD programming networks and nine Spanish-language channels tomorrow (Oct. 23).

Comcast added to its HD network count National Geographic HD (National Geographic HD (Channel 283); USA HD (284); A&E HD (285); History Channel HD (286); HGTV HD (Channel 287); Food Network HD (288) and CNN HD (Channel 299).

Comcast said its lineup will rise to 30 HD channels with the new additions, including broadcast networks CBS, ABC, NBC, CW, FOX and PBS; ESPN and ESPN2; FSN; Versus/ The Golf Channel; CNN, TNT and TBS; MHD: Music High-Definition, Universal; Mojo; HD Theater; Cinemax, HBO, Showtime and Starz; HDNet and HDNet Movies and NFL Network.

Comcast also recently added VOD in the market.

To its Spanish-language Canales Selecto package, the Houston system added: Cine Mexicano (500), Once TV - Mexico (501), TeleFormula (502), Latele Novela (505), Canal 52MX (507), SUR Mexico (508), AYM Sports (514), History en Espanol (516) and Galavision (517).

Four networks – Cine Latino, VH Uno, Canal Sur, Cartoon Network Espanol – “that were not highly viewed” were dropped, Comcast said.

The system also tweaked its channel lineup to group channels more closely by genre, and shifted WE TV to digital classic service (channel 350) from standard (48).
