Spike TV will gather 16 up-and-coming mixed-martial artists from around the world in Las Vegas in mid-January for season five of its The Ultimate Fighter reality series.
The network said the new season will include lightweights (155 pounds) for the first time ever. Former UFC lightweight champion Jens Pulver and former UFC welterweight champion B.J. Penn will serve as coaches, and they will actually fight each other in the show's live finale in a rematch of their January 2002 bout at UFC 35, which Pulver won by majority decision in a hard-fought five rounds.
The new season of The Ultimate Fighter premieres on Spike TV Thursday, April 5 at 10 p.m. (EST/PST).
