MOUNTAIN VIEW, CALIF. - Media Corp. of Singapore has selected OpenTV Corp.'s software for that country's first interactive-television foray.
OpenTV-enabled set-tops are expected to be deployed on MediaCorp's digital terrestrial network later this month as part of a pilot effort, the companies said. Among its base of television and radio holdings, MediaCorp operates six entertainment-focused television channels in Singapore.
OpenTV and MediaCorp will also collaborate on the migration to a Digital Video Broadcasting-Multimedia Home Platform (DVB-MHP), an open standard widely-adopted in Europe. The companies have also agreed to build a Southeast Asia-based ITV development and training center, whose goal will be to build OpenTV- and DVB-MHP-compliant applications such as games, e-commerce in conjunction with third-party developers.
