Verizon Wins Franchise in Braintree, Mass.
Telco to Challenge Incumbent Comcast

Posing new competition for incumbent cable TV operator Comcast, Verizon won a video franchise for its FiOS TV service in Braintree, Mass.
The Braintree board of selectmen voted Tuesday night to grant Verizon a franchise in the town of 11,500 households.
With the Braintree agreement, Verizon counts franchise agreements in 58 Massachusetts communities, the company said.
Verizon is already marketing FiOS TV to more than 390,000 households in 55 Massachusetts communities.
It also offers the pay TV service in parts of New York, New Jersey, California, Delaware, Texas, Florida, Indiana, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Virginia.
