Singapore DTT Provider Taps OpenTV

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CALIF. -Media Corp. of Singapore has selected OpenTV Corp.'s software for the country's first foray into interactive television.
OpenTV-enabled set-tops are expected to be deployed on Media Corp.'s digital-terrestrial network later this month as part of a pilot effort, the companies said.
Among its base of television and radio holdings, MediaCorp operates six entertainment-focused television channels in Singapore.
OpenTV and MediaCorp will also collaborate on the migration to a Digital Video Broadcasting-Multimedia Home Platform (DVB-MHP), an open standard widely adopted in Europe.
The companies have also agreed to build a Southeast Asia-based ITV development and training center, whose goal will be to build OpenTV- and DVB-MHP-compliant applications such games and electronic-commerce software in conjunction with third-party developers.
