Harmonic Adds Features to Gateway

Harmonic Inc. has added privacy-mode real-time-encryption conditional-access technology from Motorola Inc. to its “Narrowcast Services Gateway.”
The addition allows MSOs more robust and flexible options to protect video assets in the video-on-demand and digital-video-recorder sectors.
Harmonic said the technology enables its multifunction Internet-protocol-enabled “edgeQAM” devices to seamlessly integrate with more conditional-access systems and set-tops. It also gives operators greater flexibility with pre-encrypted content.
