Comedy to Bring Web the ‘MotherLoad’

By Multi Channel News Staff -- Multichannel News, 10/25/2005 1:09:00 PM

Comedy Central will launch its first broadband-optimized video channel Tuesday, Nov. 1.

The network said MotherLoad will launch with five distinct channels and will offer more than 450 video clips.

The channel will present new original series -- with titles including I Love the Thirties, Odd Todd and Meet the Creeps -- as well as exclusive content from Comedy shows including TV Funhouse, Strangers with Candy and Viva Variety.

“Comedy today does not just live as a 22-minute television show," Comedy senior vice president of original programming and development Lou Wallach said in a prepared statement. “We've developed and produced programming exclusively for this digital platform, and we are looking forward to premiering original content on MotherLoad.”

VP of digital media Beth Lewand added, “Comedy Central's young-adult audience is made up of technically savvy and avid Web users. MotherLoad is the latest addition to Comedy Central's multiplatform strategy, delivering content anywhere, anytime.”
