CNN Goes Down the ‘Pipeline’

By Multi Channel News Staff -- Multichannel News, 12/5/2005 10:30:00 AM MT

Cable News Network Monday launched on-demand broadband-video service “CNN Pipeline” (www.cnn.com/pipeline).

The network said CNN Pipeline offers multiple live video streams, video archives and on-demand news clips from CNN’s newsgathering operations around the world.

The service offers a downloadable player and access to video content from the entire CNN News Group, as well as CNN.com (www.cnn.com) free video features such as a video-on-demand section showcasing the best and most popular content, a “Browse Video” tool and “Now in the News,” an hourly Web-exclusive news update.

“With CNN Pipeline, CNN.com stakes out entirely new territory for online news, placing the broadband consumer in the ultimate driver’s seat,” CNN News Services executive vice president Susan Grant said in a prepared statement.

“Today, the CNN.com user not only can read a story and view video-on-demand, but with CNN Pipeline, also can take control of daily news clips, several live streams of news and even video from CNN’s extensive archives,” she added. “CNN Pipeline creates an added dimension to online news, offering an experience that is even more relevant, credible and catered specifically to the user’s needs.”
