Alterna’TV Gets DirecTV, Charter Carriage

By Multi Channel News Staff -- Multichannel News, 12/12/2005 12:10:00 PM

Alterna’TV reached carriage deals for some of its Spanish-language networks with DirecTV Inc. and Charter Communications Inc.

Latinoamerica Television will be added to the direct-broadcast satellite provider’s “DirecTV Para Todos” programming platform when it launches in January. Alterna’TV described LTV as “the first channel specifically designed for the South American population currently living in the United States.”

And Charter’s systems in Turlock, West Sacramento, Gilroy/Watsonville, Yakima, Kennewick and San Luis Obispo, Calif., will launch arts-and-entertainment channel Mexico 22 and “edutainment” network Once Mexico this month.

Mexico 22 and Once Mexico are already carried by Charter in Long Beach, Whittier, Irwindale, Glendale and Inland Empire, Calif.; Reno, Nev.; and Greenville, Spartanburg and Anderson, S.C.
