FTC OKs Adelphia Merger

The Federal Trade Commission Tuesday approved the $17.6 billion sale of Adelphia Communications Corp. to Comcast Corp. and Time Warner Inc. without conditions.
The cable deal also requires approval from the Federal Communications Commission.
DirecTV Inc. and EchoStar Communications Corp. are lobbying the FCC for conditions on sports-programming contracts, and public-interest groups have asked the FCC to impose Internet network-neutrality conditions on the cable deal.
