FTC OKs Adelphia Merger

By Ted Hearn -- Multichannel News, 1/31/2006 6:59:00 PM

The Federal Trade Commission Tuesday approved the $17.6 billion sale of Adelphia Communications Corp. to Comcast Corp. and Time Warner Inc. without conditions.

DirecTV Inc. and EchoStar Communications Corp. are lobbying the FCC for conditions on sports-programming contracts, and public-interest groups have asked the FCC to impose Internet network-neutrality conditions on the cable deal.
