MTV: Music Television gave the green light to three new series under its “News & Docs” umbrella.
MTV Juvies -- set to debut this summer with eight one-hour episodes -- “illustrates what happens when kids who have never had a brush with the law find out their choices have real consequences.” The network gained exclusive State Supreme Court access to the Lake County Juvenile Center in Indiana.
High-school football is the focus of the network’s second new documentary, Two-a-Days (working title), also set to debut this summer with eight half-hour episodes. The series follows the highly ranked Hoover High School Buccaneers of Hoover, Ala., through their season.
Finally, Tiara Girls -- premiering April 19 and also made up of eight half-hour episodes -- documents the lives of beauty-pageant contestants as they prepare and train for competition.
MTV said the last cycle of its News & Docs flagship, True Life, which has been on the air for eight years, reached more than 65 million viewers from Dec. 15-Jan. 26.
