Chang in the Air at DirecTV

DirecTV Inc. hired Charter Communications Inc. veteran Derek Chang as its senior vice president of strategy and development, officials said Monday.

Chang will report to David Hill, president of DirecTV Entertainment, and he will also work closely with DirecTV CEO Chase Carey.

Chang, most recently Charter’s executive VP of finance and strategy, will be responsible for developing new strategic areas of business for DirecTV.

Prior to Charter, Chang was executive VP of development for Yankees Entertainment & Sports Network.

  Here's an open letter to Mr. Chang: If you want to keep me and your other 2.6 million happy TiVo customers, you guys better figure out a way for TiVo customers to get your new lineup up HD channels. Switching to a DirecTV HD DVR is simply not an option, not only because it's going to cost us $300, but also because the ease and simplicity of the TiVo DVR system is 10 times - no, make that 100 times - better than the DirecTV system. Make your DVR system as easy as the TiVo system and you'll keep your 2.6 million TiVo customers. Otherwise, does anyone have the number to Comcast?
