OLN said it signed veteran sports broadcaster Gary Bender and NFL veteran Glenn Parker to call college football games in its Mountain West Conference package.
The network, which will soon rename itself Versus, plans to carry eight Mountain West Conference games in the 2006 season. Its first game, scheduled for Sept. 16 at 5:30 p.m. ET, will feature top-ranked Texas Tech and TCU.
Bender, a former CBS Sports announcer, has called NBA and NCAA basketball games. He also calls games for the NBA’s Phoenix Suns.
Parker is a former NFL offensive lineman who played for the Kansas City Chiefs, the New York Giants and the Buffalo Bills during his 12-year career. He also works as an analyst for NFL Network’s Playbook series and he’s the main college football analyst for College Sports Television.
