New Marketing Head for TBS, TNT

By Linda Moss -- Multichannel News, 9/20/2006 11:53:00 AM

As part of a plan to consolidate the TBS and TNT marketing and on-air departments,Jeff Gregor was named chief marketing officer for both networks, officials said Wednesday.

In the newly created position, Gregor will oversee all entertainment marketing and on-air promotions units for TBS and TNT, as well as their digital extensions. Gregor is based in Atlanta and reports to Steve Koonin, executive vice president and chief operating officer for the two services.

Under the network-consolidation plan, Gregor will manage the TBS and TNT marketing division with Tricia Melton, senior VP of marketing, reporting to him. In addition, the on-air creative and operations team, headed by Michael Borza, senior VP of on-air, will fall under Gregor’s auspices.

Gregor will also oversee digital extensions for the networks, such as TBS’ and TNT’s recently announced broadband destinations (www.multichannel.com/article/CA6361269.html).

Gregor, who joined TNT in 2000, most recently served as senior VP of sports marketing and programming for TNT and TBS, responsible for developing and implementing high-impact marketing programs for the networks’ sports and sports-related programming, including award-winning campaigns for the National Basketball Association and the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing.

He has also been in charge of strategic planning and scheduling of sports programming on-air, management of contractual agreements and oversight of the sports units for both TNT and TBS.

Gregor’s accomplishments at Turner include the promotional campaigns for the NBA All-Star Game and its surrounding events, as well as the transition of the All-Star Game to TNT. He has worked with such notables as Spike Lee and Sacha Baron Cohen’s alter ego, Ali G, on the award-winning NBA campaigns.

Prior to joining TNT, Gregor served as director of sports-asset management for Coca-Cola, where he led the marketing management and system utilization of key sponsorships with NASCAR, the National Football League, the NBA, the National Hockey League and Major League Baseball.

Before that, he worked with Wunderman Cato Johnson, a Young & Rubicam marketing-services agency, overseeing the Miller Brewing account group. He has also held marketing and sales positions with MLB’s Cleveland Indians and Philadelphia Phillies.
