Time Warner Cable hired Jeffery Hines, formerly of AOL, as vice president of broadband services and confirmed the hiring of ex-Cablevision Systems executive Patrick Donoghue as VP of interactive television.
Hines was VP of business planning for AOL, which, like the cable company, is owned by Time Warner Inc. He also worked at AT&T. He reports to Steve Cook, group VP of high-speed online, and he will oversee developing and deploying premium services for the high-speed-data platform.
Donoghue reports to senior VP of on-demand product management Bob Benya, who noted in a news release that Donoghue is the only person to have won four Emmy Awards for outstanding achievement in interactive television and advanced media technology. He will oversee current and future interactive features on the cable company’s advanced digital network.
Donoghue had been VP of digital television and broadband development at Cablevision, which hired him in 2001. While there, according to a biography on the 2006 National Show Web site (2006.thenationalshow.com/Attendees/Speakers.aspx?ID=62), he helped to launch more than 30 interactive-TV sites, a subscription games service, a premium-tier broadband offering and a successful on-screen upgrade service.
Time Warner Cable last month promoted Joan Gillman, who had been VP of interactive TV and advanced advertising, to oversee advertising sales as corporate senior VP and media-sales president (www.multichannel.com/article/CA6370898.html). She replaced Larry Fischer, who left the company.
