DirecTV will use advanced networking services from Qwest Communications International to deliver local HD content to consumers.
The direct-broadcast satellite provider said that as part of the upgrade of its network infrastructure, Qwest will provide its state-of-the-art metro-optical-wavelength services, or QWave, enabling DirecTV to distribute and transport HDTV content to millions of its customers.
