AT&T announced the launch in Connecticut Thursday of Homezone, its integrated satellite-TV-plus-broadband service, which makes the service available now across all of the telco’s traditional 13-state territory.
The service includes digital-subscriber-line Internet access and direct-broadcast satellite TV service provided by EchoStar Communications’ Dish Network. An in-home gateway, developed by 2Wire, allows Homezone customers to display movies, music and photos stored on a PC on a TV.
AT&T is marketing Homezone in tandem with U-verse TV, which provides video over DSL lines. U-verse TV, which had 3,000 subscribers at the end of 2006, is available only in limited areas of 11 markets.
