Cisco Expands Acquisition Streak

Acquires XML-Gateway Vendor Reactivity for $132M

By Steve Donohue -- Multichannel News, 2/21/2007 8:27:00 AM

Cable-hardware vendor Cisco Systems continued its acquisition streak, cutting a definitive deal to buy Silicon Valley technology firm Reactivity for $132 million in cash and assumed options from Reactivity.

Cisco closed a $6.9 billion deal to acquire set-top vendor Scientific Atlanta last February.

And in August, it agreed to acquire video-on-demand technology supplier Arroyo Video Solutions for $90 million in cash.

Cisco said Reactivity -- which sells XML (eXtensible Markup Language) gateways -- will become part of its Datacenter Switching and Security Technology Group. Reactivity, based in Redwood, City, Calif., and its 56 employees will be integrated into the DSSTG Group, reporting to senior vice president Jayshree Ullal.
