AT&T Bundles Online TV Channels with U-verse

U-verse OnTheGo Provides Same Content as AT&T Broadband TV

By Todd Spangler -- Multichannel News, 3/22/2007 1:22:00 PM

AT&T will provide a price break to U-verse TV and broadband subscribers for its online-only, 28-channel streaming-TV service, delivered under the telco’s existing agreement with MobiTV.

The service provides the same content as the telco’s AT&T Broadband TV service, launched last fall, which is available to anyone with a high-speed connection.

The service provides access to programming -- streamed over the Internet to a PC or mobile device -- from The Weather Channel, Bloomberg Television, Oxygen, Comedy Time, Toonworld TV Classics and others.

U-verse OnTheGo service will be available for $10 per month to U-verse broadband or TV subscribers, whereas AT&T’s Broadband TV is $19.99 per month. In addition, U-verse OnTheGo in the future will also provide movie trailers and other video-on-demand content.

"In today's on-demand world, customers want to be able to access news and entertainment using a variety of devices. AT&T U-verse OnTheGo is an example of how we're delivering that type of capability today," AT&T assistant vice president of consumer marketing Michael Grasso said in a prepared statement.

AT&T has rolled out its Internet-protocol-TV service -- which is intended to compete with cable-TV service -- more slowly than it expected. U-verse TV is now available in limited areas of 15 metropolitan statistical areas with the launch of the service in Kansas City this week.
