Stories from TV Guide Magazine, TV Guide Channel to Debut on Web Site

The TV Guide fiefdom will combine its resources, from its magazine to its cable network, to break news stories first on the company’s Web site.
Parent company Gemstar-TV Guide International Thursday unveiled the breaking-news initiative, which is meant to harness editorial resources from across the company’s various platforms to break stories on TVGuide.com, with additional coverage in TV Guide magazine and on TV Guide Channel.
TVGuide.com launched a new home page that provides continually updated daily content and gives readers what the company is touting as “the freshest, most authoritative take on the latest news about television.” All news stories that are reported by the company’s reporters and editors from TV Guide magazine, TV Guide Channel and TV Guide Online will be featured first on TVGuide.com to ensure timeliness.
TV Guide magazine and TV Guide Channel will continue to provide coverage of television shows and characters and will expand upon and provide context to selected stories that have broken first online.
Ian Birch, Gemstar-TV Guide’s chief content officer and editor in chief of TV Guide magazine, is overseeing the breaking news initiative, working closely with Mark Bautz, TV Guide Online’s newly appointed editor in chief, and Matt Singerman, senior vice president of programming for TV Guide Channel.
Other features of the new TVGuide.com home page launched Thursday include: TV Guide editorial commentary and user community feedback about last night’s shows; look-ahead previews and features about tonight’s best television; and an expanded emphasis on broadband video.
