Tandberg TV and Intel Take TV to PCs
System Combines Tandberg’s Content-Management Software, Intel's Programming-Configuration Tool

Tandberg Television and Intel plan to jointly develop and market a broadband-TV-publishing system, which the companies said will let programmers deliver “broadcast-quality” video to PCs and other devices running Intel chips.
The system, to be available later this year, will merge Tandberg’s content-management software and Intel's programming-configuration tool. The companies will offer preprogrammed interfaces, such as Web-video players and mobile-TV front ends.
"With this broadcast solution, programmers will be confident that their content is secure from piracy … and [can] deepen their brand connection with users through these standard TV interfaces that convey a unique look and exciting experience for consumers," Tandberg CEO Eric Cooney said in a prepared statement.
Tandberg recently formed a broadband-TV business unit, building on its August 2006 acquisition of Zetools, a developer of software for online-video delivery.
Tandberg is in the process of being acquired by telecommunications-equipment giant Ericsson, which outbid an offer tendered by Arris Group.
