Vyyo, Motorola and Singapore cable operator StarHub said they have tested equipment that uses features of Cable Television Laboratories’ Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification 3.0 to achieve download speeds exceeding 145 megabits per second.
The test took place on StarHub’s hybrid fiber-coaxial network, using the Motorola BSR 64000 cable modem-termination system, Motorola’s SB6100 channel-bonding cable modems and Vyyo’s UltraBand Spectrum Overlay solutions, which use spectrum up to the 2.75-gigahertz frequency to increase bandwidth.
StarHub is bidding for the Singapore government’s Next-Generation National Broadband Network (Next Gen NBN) project, which is supposed to provide bidirectional bandwidth of up to 1 gigabit per second using Vyyo’s spectrum-overlay technology.
