Fransuah Mathews, 25, of Gary, Ind., pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter in the shooting death of a man who was installing cable television at his house, saying that he became enraged when he realized that his TV set was not cable-ready, AP reported.
Mathews faces 20 years in prison if a judge accepts the plea agreement filed Thursday for the August 2004 killing of Verndell Warmack, AP reported. Mathews was originally charged with murder.
Warmack, 39, was on a ladder at Mathews' Gary home installing cable to repay a debt when Mathews shot him, according to court records. Mathews also shot Warmack in the leg and chest as he fled.
