CBS announced deals with 13 community Web sites and social-networking application providers with the aim of letting individual Internet users incorporate the broadcaster’s TV-show clips into their personal profiles.
The partnerships would extend the CBS Interactive Audience Network -- an initiative announced last month to distribute the company’s broadcast- and cable-TV content free-of-charge -- into blogs, wikis and other community-oriented Internet applications.
That will give CBS “promotional value online,” the company said, while also letting the company learn about its audience. "Today, we are taking the CBS Audience Network directly to the user," CBS Interactive president Quincy Smith said.
CBS’s new partners include Automattic, the developer of WordPress blogging software; Clearspring; DAVE Networks; Goowy Media; Meebo; MeeVee; MuseStorm; Ning; RockYou!; Slide; VideoEgg; Voxant; and vSocial.
Previously announced CBS online-video-syndication partners include Comcast, AOL, Microsoft, Brightcove, Sling Media, Veoh Networks and Joost, in which CBS has an equity investment.
CBS said its video content is now available on select partner Web sites, and it will add more over the coming months leading up to the official launch.
