TiVo Heads Down Under

Digital-Video-Recorder Vendor Reaches Deal with Seven Media Group

By Todd Spangler -- Multichannel News, 5/29/2007 8:06:00 AM

TiVo announced a distribution deal with Australian broadcaster Seven Media Group, which will bring digital-video recorders to Australia and New Zealand next year.

The companies said they expect TiVo products and services to be launched in the first half of 2008. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Seven will lead the creation of the platform to enable TiVo’s DVR and service, which will be available for use by other broadcasters and content owners. The service will include TiVo features like SeasonPass recordings and WishList searches and will allow users to access broadband content on their TVs. Seven also plans to use TiVo’s interactive-advertising capabilities.
