NBC Slaps Interactive TV on Stanley Cup Coverage

Tandberg, NBCSports.com Team Up on Two-Screen ITV Product

By Steve Donohue -- Multichannel News, 5/31/2007 6:51:00 AM MT

NBC Sports cut a deal with Tandberg Television that will allow viewers of its National Hockey League Stanley Cup Finals coverage to interact with programming via computers wired to the Internet.

The companies said the “two-screen experience” will allow viewers to participate in fan pools, answer NHL trivia games, play hockey “mini-games” and chat with other fans of the Ottawa Senators and Anaheim Ducks.

The interactive-TV programming is branded NBCSports.com Screen Shot.

NBC said users will be able to earn points by participating on the site that could allow them to win tickets to next year’s Stanley Cup Finals.

Tandberg and NBC have teamed up on previous interactive-TV events, including the 2006 and 2007 Golden Globe Awards and the 2006 Primetime Emmy Awards.
