Blonder Tongue Rolls Out ATSC/QAM Demodulator

Device Converts Digital-TV Signals for Analog Sets

By Multi Channel News Staff -- Multichannel News, 6/6/2007 11:21:00 AM

Blonder Tongue Laboratories launched its ATSC/QAM Demodulator (AQD), which allows the reception and demodulation of a digital-television signal in 8VSB (vestigial sideband) or QAM (quadrature amplitude modulation) format for decoding, viewing and/or transmission to analog-based TV sets.

The vendor said the AQD supports the decoding of all 18 ATSC (Advanced Television Systems Committee) standard formats, including 8VSB,annex B QAM 64 and QAM 256 signals.

“The AQD provides a solution for the transition from analog to digital that doesn’t require the immediate and expensive replacement of existing analog TVs,” Blonder Tongue president Robert Pallé said in a prepared statement.
