Rockefeller Bill Stalled by Court Ruling
No Legislation Until After June 26 Senate Commerce Committee Hearing

Sen. John D. (Jay) Rockefeller (D- W.Va.) will not be introducing television violence legislation in advance of a June 26 Senate Commerce Committee hearing on ways to curb violent content on cable and broadcast TV.
“You probably won’t see a bill until after the hearing,” Rockefeller press secretary Steven Broderick said Monday.
Rockefeller needed additional time, he added, because of the June 4 federal appeals ruling that struck down the FCC’s new policy of punishing the fleeting use of the “S-word” and “F-word” on broadband television.
“The senator is carefully reviewing that ruling and seeing how he can address some of the court’s concerns in the legislation he is working on right now,” Broderick said.
