Orlando, Fla. -- C-COR and Harmonic paired off at the switched-digital-video dance, combining their technologies to deliver an SDV solution targeted toward cable operators.
The offering stitches together C-COR’s nABLE session and resource manager with Harmonic's NSG 9000 universal-edge quadrature amplitude modulation and ProStream 1000, a standard-definition MPEG-2 re-encoding system that converts video to constant bit rate.
A C-COR spokeswoman said the joint solution is available now, although no customers have bought the SDV offering yet.
"Our work with Harmonic results in a switched-digital-video offering that brings together the ability to reclaim bandwidth capacity, audience measurement and advertising capabilities packaged in an open and end-to-end environment," C-COR vice president of on-demand strategy Basil Badawiyeh said in a prepared statement.
The duo will demonstrate the joint solution here at the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers’ Cable-Tec Expo 2007.
