SCTE Hands Out Awards at Cable-Tec Expo 2007

Trade Group Recognizes Valuable Members

The Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers gave away some hardware at its Cable-Tec Expo 2007 in Orlando, Fla., Wednesday.

Aurora Networks national account director Sally L. Kinsman was presented with the 2007 SCTE Chairman’s Award.

The 2007 SCTE Member of the Year is Deployment Technologies systems engineer Ronald Brunt, who “has been widely credited with virtually single-handedly resurrecting the SCTE West Virginia Mountaineer Chapter, for which he serves as president,” the trade group said.

The SCTE Hall of Fame welcomed Charter Communications vice president of operations engineering Thomas J. Gorman, who also worked for Comcast, Jones Intercable and Jedai Broadband Networks and who has been an SCTE member since 1982.

Finally, the trade group handed out its 2007 SCTE Gold and Silver Safety Awards.

A total of 122 Gold Awards were distributed, to Charter (60), Comcast (30), Cox Communications (22), Vozzcom (six) and Mediacom Communications and Time Warner Cable (two each).

As for Silver Awards, 40 were given out, to Charter (15), Comcast (11), Cox (10), Time Warner (three) and BendBroadband (one).
