TV Land Brings Elvis Back to Hawaii
Cable Network to Erect Statue Outside Site of Aloha from Hawaii

TV Land will honor rock ‘n’ roll king Elvis Presley with a life-sized bronze statue that will sit outside the Neal S. Blaisdell Center, the home of Presley’s 1973 Aloha from Hawaii concert.
The statue, which will be unveiled July 26, will be followed by a month-long tribute to “The King” throughout the month of August.
TV Land’s Elvis programming will be made up of concert television specials including 68 Comeback Special and Aloha from Hawaii; documentaries; made-for-TV movies; and feature movies such as Love Me Tender and Wild in the Country. And Aug. 16, TV Land will air original special Myths and Legends: Elvis.
The bronze sculpture will be the sixth work to honor famous television stars from years past. Previous bestowments include sculptures of Jackie Gleason from The Honeymooners in front of New York’s Port Authority Bus Terminal; Mary Tyler Moore from The Mary Tyler Moore Show in Nicollet Mall in Minneapolis; The Andy Griffith Show in Raleigh, N.C.; Bob Newhart in Chicago; and Elizabeth Montgomery (Bewitched) in Salem, Mass.
