ESPN Plans Multimedia Coverage of Pan American Games
Brazil Games Featured on TV, ESPN360.com, ESPN Deportes Radio

Using a full collection of its multimedia assets, ESPN will provide daily coverage of the 15th edition of the Pan American Games live from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, July 13-29.
The sports programmer will offer three weeks of coverage of the Pan American Games on ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN Deportes, ESPN360.com, ESPN Deportes Radio, ESPNdeportes.com and ESPN Deportes La Revista. ESPN Brasil, the company’s Portuguese-language network, will also televise the event.
The Pan American Games will be held in 16 different venues throughout Rio de Janeiro.
ESPN will produce more than 160 hours of Pan American Games-related programming -- the most ever televised in the United States.
ESPN Deportes, the Spanish-language network, will offer at least 10 hours of daily coverage starting with opening ceremonies July 13 at 3 p.m. Spanish-language coverage will begin at noon and conclude at 10 p.m. on weekdays and run from 9 a.m.-10 p.m. on weekends.
ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPN360.com will simulcast some of ESPN Deportes’ Spanish-language coverage.
Each day will begin with a preview show and conclude with a one-hour live edition of SportsCenter at 10 p.m.
Coverage will feature a wide range of competitions including men’s basketball, men’s soccer, boxing, baseball, beach volleyball, track and field, volleyball, gymnastics, swimming, women’s soccer and tennis.
Occurring once every four years and during the year prior to each Olympic Games, the Pan American Games is a multisport, quadrennial event for the Americas. The 15th edition of the Pan American Games will feature about 5,500 athletes from 42 countries. This year, the U.S. delegation will include roughly 650 athletes competing in 35 sports.

Any reason why you didn't show Judo. We have an American in the 73 kg weight class, Ryan Reser that is setting the world on fire and you don't even mention him. It's a shame.

Any plans for covering women's weightlifting? Melanie Roach, a 32 year old mother of three has come back from a 7 year retirement to compete at the Pan Ams and fufull her Olympic dream that was derailed due to an injury sustained before the 2000 Olympics. She is a heavy favorite to medal. If ESPN is looking for a feature story that its viewers will absolutely love, this is it! Note: Melanie Roach is not your stereotypical weightlifter. She's 5', 116lbs. and very attractive.
