By Todd Spangler -- Multichannel News, 7/12/2007 4:07:00 AM

Level 3 Communications announced Wednesday that it acquired Servecast, a Dublin, Ireland-based provider of live and on-demand video-management and streaming services for broadband and mobile platforms, for about $45 million.

Servecast offers publishing and distribution tools to manage and deliver online audio and video content in multiple formats, including Adobe Flash and Windows Media Player.

Level 3 plans to maintain Servecast's headquarters and broadcast-operations center in Dublin, as well as its data centers in London and Amsterdam. Servecast's streaming-server sites in Europe and North America will be incorporated into Level 3's Content Delivery Network.

Servecast had approximately $5 million in annual revenue for 2006.
