Beverly Hills, Calif. -- The Whitest Kids U Knowhave skated Fuse for The Independent Film Channel.
Evan Shapiro, executive vice president and general manager of IFC, said his channel now has exclusive rights to the sketch-comedy show, which will be distributed on cable and the Web.
The show is a fit because IFC is “the voice of indie culture” on television, he said. Rainbow Media Holdings stable mate Fuse is refocusing his vision, he said, so the switch of the comedy show to IFC made sense.
The channel also acquired the rights to R. Kelly’s viral sensation Trapped in the Closet, a “hip-hopera.” A total of 12 episodes have been created, and IFC will collaborate with the singer on 10 more episodes which will be on the linear channel and will be streamed on IFC.com.
IFC will also debut an original four-part documentary, Indie Sex, an examination of how independent films have provided a forum for “society’s darkest sexual fantasies.” It debuts Aug. 1.
