By Christian Lewis -- Multichannel News, 7/18/2007 10:50:00 AM

DirecTV joined with United Kingdom subscription TV provider British Sky Broadcasting Group and Asian media and entertainment company Star to distribute the Championship Gaming Series, an international online-video-gaming league.

The league offers the chance to compete online for cash prize money via regional qualifying events in North America, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East and Australia, capped by a World Championship final in the United States.

The league will get distribution to roughly 100 million households worldwide via DirecTV in North America and Latin America, BSkyB in the United Kingdom and Star in Asia and Australia.

CGS’ founding partners include Dell’s XPS, PepsiCo’s Mountain Dew, Microsoft’s Xbox 360 and IGN.com.
