The Independent Film Channel will receive sponsorship from Tourism Australia, Scion, Entertainment Weekly, eMusic and Focus Features for its first-ever traveling independent film festival.
“By partnering with Tourism Australia, Scion, Entertainment Weekly, eMusic and Focus Features for our Free Film Fest, we are creating a unique opportunity for our sponsors to reach consumers through innovative and nontraditional avenues,” IFC executive vice president and general manager Evan Shapiro said in a prepared statement.
“Each of these brands offers an exciting new element to the tour and helps us to achieve our mission of bringing great, uncut, independent films out of the theater and under the stars for film fans of all ages,” he added.
The festival offers uncut indie films free to the public via portable outdoor 40-by-20-foot inflatable air screens. Beginning at dusk after musical acts and other preshow entertainment, film screenings include The Princess Bride, Napoleon Dynamite and Coen Brothers cult classic Raising Arizona.
All tour sponsors receive on-site signage, inclusion in preshow promotions and a branding presence in various IFC on-air spots.
Since launching in early June, the festival has traveled to Philadelphia and Atlanta. This week, it arrives in Miami, followed by Memphis, Tenn.; Denver; San Francisco; Seattle; Detroit; Boston; and Washington, D.C.
