Amy Finley was crowned The Next Food Network Star Sunday night. And the series’ third-season finale wore Food Network’s all-time ratings diadem.
The finale, which aired at 9 p.m., cooked up a 2.6 household rating and 3.4 million viewers, according to Nielsen Media Research data. That performance made it the highest-rated, most-watched telecast in Food’s history, according to network officials.
With season three averaging a 1.8 household rating and 2.2 million viewers -- up 38% compared with the show’s sophomore campaign -- Food officials said it had become the highest-rated cable food series ever, supplanting the third season of Bravo’s Top Chef.
“The Next Food Network Star is the No. 1 food show on cable, and we are extremely proud of the series,” Food senior vice president of production and programming Bob Tuschman said in a prepared statement. “Amy is a great talent, and we are excited to begin development on her daytime show to launch this fall in our popular ‘In the Kitchen’ weekend programming block.”
