Cablevision to Launch CNET TV
Technology Reviewer Rolls First Dedicated VOD Channel

Cablevision Systems said it plans to launch a video-on-demand channel programmed by CNET Tuesday.
The VOD channel, CNET TV-Powered by Optimum, is available at no additional charge to Cablevision’s iO: Interactive Optimum digital-cable subscribers.
CNET announced a deal to supply VOD content to Cox Communications in 2006, but the Cablevision agreement marks its first dedicated VOD channel on a cable system.
CNET has also supplied content previously to TiVo and NBC Universal’s NBBC video-aggregation service, which NBC pulled the plug on earlier this month.
Cablevision said CNET TV, programmed on channel 607, will feature several hours of product reviews, commentary, breaking technology news and how-to advice. It will also contain CNET technology shows such as Top 5, Insider Secrets and Prize Fight.
CNET and Cablevision said the VOD channel will contain more than 100 titles, including reviews on Apple’s iPhone, the new MacBook Pro laptop computer, HDTVs and gaming systems.
The VOD channel will eventually contain advertising, including banner ads and advertising integrated in the products it features, Cablevision spokesman Jim Maiella said. But it won’t contain any advertising when it launches Tuesday, he added.
CNET TV will refresh its VOD content monthly, Cablevision said.
