Independent Houston cable operator Phonoscope plans to deploy video-on-demand this fall using “VOD in a Box,” the turnkey product-and-service offering developed by Comcast Media Center and C-COR.
Designed for smaller operators, VOD in a Box includes C-COR’s n5 compact VOD server and up to 1,200 hours of free and premium content provided by CMC.
“VOD in a Box allows us to add a compelling package of on-demand programming to our lineup of digital-video services with an ROI [return on investment] that makes sense for a cable system of our size,” Phonoscope president Rhonda Druke said in a prepared statement.
CMC and C-COR are expected to make the announcement Tuesday at the Independent Cable Show in Monterey, Calif.
