Perth Resigns from ReelzChannel

Veteran Industry Exec Will Remain With Service As Advisor

By Linda Moss -- Multichannel News, 8/14/2007 5:03:00 AM MT

Rod Perth resigned as president of ReelzChannel Television, the network that boasts it has “Everything about Movies - 24/7.”

Gary Thorne, president and COO of ReelzChannel, will absorb Perth’s responsibilities effective immediately.

Perth, whose resume includes stints as president of USA Network Entertainment and Jim Henson Television, will transition to a new role as consultant/advisor to ReelzChannel between now and early September. He has served as ReelzChannel Television president for the past seven years, during which he was one of the key architects of its development, the September 2006 launch, and continued growth.

“I am very proud of bringing ReelzChannel through its critical launch phase, and building the foundation for the business that is on its way to being a great business,” Perth said in a prepared statement. “This is about rebalancing my life both personally and professionally, and it is an ideal transition point for everyone."

ReelzChannel premiered to a national audience of 28 million homes, the largest premier in cable/satellite history.  In addition to its cable carriage in markets across the country, ReelzChannel is carried on DirecTV and Dish Network.
