Flavor Flav Roast Tops Comedy Central 2007 Ratings

By Mike Reynolds -- Multichannel News, 8/14/2007 11:33:00 AM

When it came down to laughs,Comedy Central viewers were feeling the torching of Flavor Flav more than the putdowns of William Shatner.

The Aug. 12 premiere of The Comedy Central Roast of Flavor Flav notched a 2.9 household rating and some 3.8 million making it the network’s highest-rated telecast of the year, according to network officials.

Comedy Central executives noted that the show, which debuted at 10 p.m., was the most watched in its time slot in all of television, among adults 18 to 49 and 18 to 34, and among men 18 to 24.

The Flav fest, which was the network’s most-watched roast ever among men 18 to 34, topped last year’s Emmy-nominated comedic attack on Shatner by 23% among adults 18 to 49, 89% among adults 18 to 34, 18% among men 18 to 49, and 80% among men 18 to 34.

All told, Sunday night’s telecast was the network’s third-highest-rated roast ever among total viewers and persons 18 to 49, trailing only the March 2005 flaming of Jeff Foxworthy and the laugh assault on Pamela Anderson in August of that year, according to network officials.
