ION Media Networks closed a multi-year acquisition deal with CBS Television Distribution to air the newsmagazine 48 Hours on its flagship television network, officials said Wednesday.
Under terms of the agreement, previously aired installments of 48 Hours will be updated with new graphics and wraps by host Erin Moriarty, a veteran CBS News correspondent, who will provide the audience with new findings in ongoing investigations.
Moriarty has been a correspondent for 48 Hours since June 1990 and has a law degree. She previously had been the consumer correspondent for CBS This Morning and the CBS Evening News.
48 Hours will appear weeknights on ION Television beginning in the fourth quarter.
In its unique approach, 48 Hours delves into a single subject, examining it from several angles with in-depth coverage and an action-driven style. The Emmy award-winning newsmagazine blends real-life news events with expert storytelling, shedding new light on true-crime cases and examining issues facing everyday Americans.
