By Multi Channel News Staff -- Multichannel News, 8/29/2007 6:03:00 AM

Optimum Lightpath, Cablevision Systems’ business-services division, is offering a dedicated video-distribution service over its Ethernet-based metropolitan area network to media companies, broadcasters, television stations and other companies in the New York DMA.

The division’s Broadcast Video Transport service supports compressed, uncompressed, analog, digital and high-definition video applications. Optimum Lightpath offers dedicated bandwidth and network-reliability guarantees.

BVT is certified by the Metro Ethernet Forum as an MEF 9 and 14 service, which means it provides such features as dedicated access termination; quality of service; and network-path protection with 50-milisecond resiliency.

According to the company, Optimum Lightpath's metro Ethernet network covers more than 2,700 route miles throughout northern New Jersey, Connecticut and the New York metropolitan area.
