Africa Channel

Eric Brown was named executive vice president, affiliate sales at The Africa Channel. He comes from Time Warner Cable, where he was president of the Minnesota division.

BBC America

BBC America named the U.S. production team for its first nightly newscast: Claudia Milne and Nicky Goldberg will be senior broadcast producers; Iva Zoric was named senior producer; Sarah Robbins was tapped as senior producer for planning; Bob Sharpe was named lead director; Brian Gottlieb and Kathryn Farrell joined as producers; Meghan Gourley was named associate producer; and Marc Adams joins as broadcast associate.

Concert.TV

John Reich has joined Concert.TV, a New York-based network focused on live music performances and documentaries, as vice president of programming. He comes from VH1, where he was VP, multiplatform music programming.

Current

Theresa Pepe Falcone has joined Current TV as vice president, ad sales research. She had been director, ad sales and affiliate ad sales at A&E Television Networks.

Fox Cable

Fox Cable Networks has named Jim Tremblay vice president, advertising sales at Fox Reality Channel.

GSN

Leigh Primack was named executive director of distribution at GSN. Primack will oversee affiliate sales and marketing for GSN’s new Central Region group.

MPRM

Los Angeles-based entertainment, technology and lifestyle public relations firm MPRM Public Relations has elevated Ariel Carpenter to senior vice president, digital media and technology.

Also, Donna Hardwick has joined the firm as vice president, television; Bill Horn signed on as vice president, home entertainment; and Susan Yin has joined as director, digital media and technology.

Nat Geo

National Geographic Channel promoted Bridget Whalen to executive director of development and Whit Higgins to director of development and co-productions.

Also, Randy Rylander was elevated to director of programming and scheduling. Banafsheh Parsee was named director of business operations and Greg Larvenz was tapped as chief engineer. The network also hired Matther Zymet as director of digital media content.

Nick

Nickelodeon has added Tracy Katsky as senior vice president, development and original programming. She comes from HBO Independent Productions, where she was senior VP, development.

SPT

Sony Pictures Television has elevated Chris Parnell to vice president, development. He had been director, development.

Starz

Stephan Shelanski was elevated to executive vice president, programming at Starz Entertainment. He had been senior VP.

Travel

Cox Communications’ Travel Channel Media has elevated Patrick Lafferty to chief creative officer. He had been a senior VP, marketing at former Travel parent company Discovery Communications, responsible for Travel as well as Science Channel, Military Channel and Discovery on Demand.

Also, Jonathan Sichel was named senior vice president, commercial affairs and operations. He was VP, business affairs at DCI.

Michael Klein was named senior vice president, content. He had been VP, lifestyle programming at Discovery Networks U.S.

Travel named Mickey McKenzie vice president, production management and operations. She was director, production management at DCI.

And Brett Woods was named vice president, business operations. He had been director, business operations for Cox Communications Cleveland.

Travel Channel Media also hired several new executives: Matthew Gould was named vice president, development; Linette Hwu was named vice president, legal affairs; Rex Recka was tapped as vice president, business affairs; Kay Robinson was named corporate director, people services; and Adam Sutherland was named vice president, strategy and business development.

Turner

Susan Nathan was named vice president, media currency at Turner Broadcasting System. She had been senior VP, director of media knowledge at Universal McCann/McCann Erickson.

Vyyo

Broadband-access equipment provider Vyyo has elevated Jeff Fryling to senior vice president, business development.

Weather

Jerry Arias was named affiliate marketing director at The Weather Channel. He was a manager in the affiliate sales and marketing team at Fox Cable Networks.

Wildblue

Ed Knudson joined WildBlue Communications as vice president of sales and marketing. Knudson had been senior VP of OpenTV’s advanced advertising unit.
