DirecTV’s “Project MyWorld” Goes Down Under

Teams Seeks Adventure, Best Indie Bands in Australia, New Zealand During Second Season

By Linda Moss -- Multichannel News, 9/10/2007 5:08:00 AM

DirecTV heads to New Zealand and Australia for the second season of its original series Project MyWorld, which debuts Oct. 1 at 6 p.m. HD, officials said Monday.

In preparation for season two, DirecTV conducted an open-casting call where hundreds showed up in hopes of becoming the next Project MyWorld girl. Bridgetta Tomarchio stood out from the crowd and was chosen as the “adventure girl” to join Shaina and Renee for season two.

The search for the next Project MyWorld girl will air as a pre-season special on The 101, DirecTV’s original entertainment channel, Sept. 10 at 6 p.m. in HD.

Project MyWorld debuted last October as DirecTV’s fourth original series and is part documentary, part international odyssey and part Internet experience come to life. The inaugural season of Project MyWorld followed Renee, Shaina and Taryn Southern, as they made their way through Europe.

In the second season, Shaina, Renee and Bridgetta traverse the globe in search of love, adventure and the very best independent bands that their MySpace friends have to offer.

Staying true to the premise of Project MyWorld, the show’s creators and stars, Shaina and Renee, will serve as executive producers. The two, along with Bridgetta, will also maintain the show’s Web site on MySpace at www.myspace.com/projectmyworld.

Project MyWorld is produced for DirecTV by Asylum Entertainment
